KCSR/KBPY: Business Leader and Former Student Regent Justin Solomon Announces Candidacy for University Board of Regents District 4
OMAHA, NE — Justin Solomon, a dedicated community leader, education advocate, and seasoned business executive, officially announced his candidacy today for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, representing District 4. A product of the Omaha Public Schools and a former Student Regent, Solomon brings a unique perspective rooted in his experience as a first-generation college student and a high-level corporate officer.
“My life is a product of the opportunities Nebraska’s public education system provides,” said Solomon. “From the classrooms of the Omaha Public Schools to the halls of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I have seen firsthand how an accessible, high-quality education can transform a life. I am running for the Board of Regents to ensure that these same opportunities remain a reality for the next generation of Nebraska families.”
Solomon’s platform focuses on three core pillars: affordability and access for students, workforce and economic development, and protecting research and academic freedom at the University of Nebraska.
As a former Pell Grant recipient and Regents Scholar, Solomon is acutely aware of the financial hurdles students face. He is committed to keeping tuition predictable and ensuring that the University of Nebraska remains an engine for economic growth that attracts and retains talent within the state.
Solomon will rely on his private sector background to lead the University of Nebraska into the future, especially in the face of the unprecedented changes in higher education. “The value proposition of higher education is changing faster than ever. The University needs leaders on the Board of Regents who have developed a vision for expansive organizations, who have hired leaders to implement the strategy created by the board and senior leadership, and who have engaged in getting entire organizations pushing in the same direction.”
